Tinder’s paid plans stack on top of each other. Plus covers the basics like unlimited likes and Rewind, Gold adds the ability to see who already liked you, and Platinum adds ways to get noticed faster, such as Priority Likes and messaging before a match. Which one is worth it depends far more on how you use Tinder than on the feature list.
One caveat before we start: Tinder changes its tiers often, tests different bundles in different countries, and prices depend on your age, location and plan length. Treat this page as a general map, and check the subscription screen in your own Tinder app for what is offered to you right now.
The three tiers at a glance
| Feature (generally) | Gold | Platinum |
|---|---|---|
| Everything in Plus (unlimited likes, Rewind, Passport, no ads) | Yes | Yes |
| See who likes you, Top Picks | Yes | Yes |
| Priority Likes, message with a Super Like, see likes you sent recently | No | Yes |
Plus sits underneath both of them. If it is offered in your market, it is the cheapest way to remove the daily like limit.
What Tinder Plus generally includes
Plus is the entry tier. It usually covers:
- Unlimited likes, so you never hit the “out of likes” wall.
- Rewind, which brings back the last profile you swiped left on by accident.
- Passport, which lets you swipe in another city before you travel.
- No ads between profiles.
- A few extra Super Likes and sometimes a monthly Boost, depending on the market.
Plus does not show you who liked you. That is the main reason most people look past it.
What Tinder Gold adds
Gold includes everything in Plus and adds the feature most people pay for: Likes You, a grid of everyone who has already liked your profile. You can like them back and match instantly instead of waiting for them to turn up in your stack.
Gold also generally includes Top Picks, a daily selection of profiles Tinder thinks suit you, plus some extra Super Likes and a Boost each month in many markets.
The value of Gold depends almost entirely on how many likes you receive. If you have dozens of people waiting in that grid, it saves a lot of swiping. If you get a handful a week, you are paying for a short list.
What Tinder Platinum adds
Platinum is the top regular tier. On top of Gold, it usually adds:
- Priority Likes. Your likes are shown to people sooner than likes from non-Platinum users, which can matter in busy cities.
- Message before matching. You can attach a short note to a Super Like, so the other person reads something from you before deciding.
- See the likes you sent in roughly the last week, which helps you keep track of who you have already liked.
Tinder has also experimented with an even pricier invite-only tier in some places. Most people never see it, and it is outside the scope of this page.
Who each tier suits
Plus suits people who mostly hit the like limit
If your only frustration is running out of likes, and you get matches fine once you can keep swiping, Plus is the most direct fix. It also suits frequent travellers who want Passport.
Gold suits people with a full “Likes You” grid
Gold earns its price when the blurred grid on your free account keeps showing a large number. You skip the guessing and match with people who are already interested. If that number is small, Gold is mostly a nice-to-have.
Platinum suits busy cities and people who want to stand out
Priority Likes help most where there is a lot of competition, for example in large cities or when you are swiping on very popular profiles. The message-with-Super-Like feature suits people who are good at a short, specific opener and want it seen first.
Free suits more people than you might think
Plenty of people do well on a free account by improving their profile and swiping with more intent. A sharper set of photos often does more than any subscription, because no paid tier can fix a profile that people swipe past. If you are not sure the upgrade is worth it, our guide on whether Tinder Gold is worth it goes through the pros and cons in more detail.
Tips before you subscribe
- Start with one month. Longer plans are cheaper per month, but a single month tells you whether the features change anything for you.
- Check the Likes You count first. Your free account already shows a number or a blurred grid. That gives you a rough idea of what Gold would unlock.
- Look for in-app offers. Tinder regularly runs discounts, especially on the first purchase or after a period of inactivity.
- Remember to cancel in the right place. Subscriptions bought through Google Play or the App Store are cancelled there, not just by deleting the Tinder app.
How Spoofy fits in
Spoofy is a free companion app for Tinder. It is not a paid tier and it does not unlock Gold or Platinum features. What it does is help you get more out of a free account: Already Liked Me gives you an estimate of which profiles have probably liked you, based on Tinder’s own likes count, and Multi-Liker lets you see a whole grid of recommendations at once so you spend your free likes on the people you actually want. It also shows how many likes you have left and alerts you when they refill.
